Time to Get Organized

by Ed Woehlcke

“Tell me and I forget.  Teach me and I may Remember.  Involve me and I learn.”

--Benjamin Franklin

A little over a year ago, my wife, Robin, and I moved from a townhome in Bridgeport, PA to a single family house in Collegeville, PA.  As you can imagine, after 10 years of being in the townhome and with our two kids turning 9 years old and 11 years old, the Woehlcke Family had accumulated a lot of stuff.  We took the opportunity to purge and donate/get rid of a decent amount of stuff.  That is until we filled up both of our cars and 2 huge moving trucks and headed to Collegeville.  The basement had a nice storage area and just as important a nice little bar with a TV where Dad could get away.  Amazingly, the storage area after 15 short months, was overrun with more stuff.  We were both going crazy and couldn’t figure out where all of this stuff came from.

Serendipitously, we found out one of our new neighbors, Leslie, is a professional organizer and kindly offered 1 hour of complimentary organizing services in exchange for before and after pictures on her website (www.truespaceorganization.com).  Leslie got Robin involved and it was a great success (remember the Ben Franklin quote from the beginning) and needless to say, we signed up for 2 more hours with Leslie to work on the garage.

In a similar manner to how Leslie involved Robin in the process, we do the same thing here at Valley Financial Group to organize your financial world with your Financial Locker.  We have found the more we get our clients involved in the process, the more likely for them to take the steps to organize their financial lives.

When was the last time you reviewed the following:

  • beneficiaries for IRAs/401ks
  • beneficiaries for Life Insurance Policies
  • your will
  • rate you are paying on your mortgage and other debt

Feel free to reach out to us to discuss how we can help you get started on the road to financial organization by involving you in the process.
